BLACKBURN Council is backing local people in their fight to stop tipping at an Edgworth farm.
The final decision over whether to allow dumping of inert waste at Slacks Farm, Broadhead Road, rests with Lancashire County Council, which asked Blackburn for its comments.
Blackburn planning and highways committee, North Turton Parish Council and Turton Civic Trust are all objecting to the plan.
North Turton Parish Council estimates it will take 8,200 lorry movements along surrounding roads to fill the site, Blackburn planning and highways committee was told.
Planning officers said the area was marked as one of special landscape and while the development would result in the tidying-up of the land, it could be tidied up and improved without landfill operations.
They added that plans also failed to conform with landfill policies set down in the county's structure plan.
