ARTHUR Scargill's breakaway Socialist Labour Party came fourth in the Hemsworth by-election as official Labour strolled home.
But the miners' leader claimed this was a success, though his party just managed to hang on to its deposit.
Sifting the results of a low-turnout poll in a safe-seat is not an ideal way to forecast how things might work out at general election.
But it is safe to say that Mr Scargill should savour this "success" - as it's all his dinosaur party is likely to get.
