IT was a case of 'n-ice' work if you can get it for the pupils of Griffin Park Primary School, Blackburn.

They went to meet the skating stars of the Blackburn Hawks ice hockey team and got the chance to try their own skills out on the ice.

The school's Year Six chatted to team members and took a look behind the scenes, trying on some of the team's protective gear. Unfortunately, none of it was in their size!

The trip to Blackburn Arena was one of the prizes in a Newspapers In Education competition organised by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph and the training agency ELTEC.

The school produced the best sports page in a competition in the Spotlight On Sport supplement which was compiled by local teachers to stimulate interest in sport and published by the Evening Telegraph in 1995.
