RECORD breaking Alan Shearer waved farewell to the Ewood faithful for the rest of the season with a superb double strike against Wimbledon last night (Wednesday, April 17).

And super sub Graham Fenton kept Rovers Euro dream alive with a 58th minute winner in an exciting 3-2 victory.

Super Shearer grabbed his 30th Premiership goal for the third successive season in style, receiving the ball and swivelling to fire home from 20 yards.

Now he will undergo surgery on a groin injury in an attempt to get fit for England's European Championship campaign.

In a see-saw battle in which the Dons twice came back to equaliser, it was the ace marksman who stood out. After Robbie Earl equalised his opening strike, Shearer restored Rovers lead two minutes after the break cutting in from the left to fire past Neil Sullivan.

Wimbledon's reply was instant when Marcus Gayle rose to head home two minutes later. But it was Fenton, on for Mike Newell who limped off with a hamstring injury in the ninth minute, who settled the game when he tapped home from close range.
