THE use of animals in medical research is an emotive subject, but while the campaigns of the animal rights movement show more concern for the rights and welfare of animals than people, the hope offered to people with serious illnesses hangs in the balance.
The animals rights movement has poisoned the minds of the general public with emotional propaganda for far too long and the voice of the real losers in this debate needs to be heard urgently.
The other side of the coin is that animal research has saved lives and provides the light at the end of the tunnel to people with serious illnesses such as multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer's disease etc. It is their right to hope that needs defending.
