CLARETS chairman Frank Teasdale hopes the opening of the new North Stand tonight will mark a new era for the club as a whole. "It is a period of change but what we would like is for the spirit of the old Longside to live on," he said today. "We have had requests from people wanting blocks of tickets together because they used to stand on the terraces together. And although everything is new and up to date we hope that the spirit of camaraderie will continue."

Mr Teasdale added that the club had to develop the ground because of of the Taylor Report recommendations.

"We hope people will be pleasantly surprised by what is on offer," he added.

"The views it offers are magnificent."
