ON Workers' Memorial Day, next Sunday at noon, Greater Manchester Hazards Centre is organising a commemorative ceremony outside the PumpHouse, People's History Museum, Bridge Street (off Deansgate) in Manchester.

We are planting a tree and putting up a plaque to remember all those who have died because of 99 their work - whether from an accident or because of a work-related illness.

We invite anyone who is interested to attend this event, and to bring flowers in memory of any relative or friend who has died because of their work. In 1994/95, 22 people were killed at work in Greater Manchester, and more than 700 were seriously injured. As well as commemorating those who have died, we will be pledging to continue the fight for safe and healthy working conditions.
