THE Wildlife Hospital for the North West is presently fostering baby owls, squirrels, thrushes, ducklings, rabbits and many other species all of which demand round-the-clock care.
Yet, the peak of the breeding season is still some weeks away when, once again, we will be straining to accommodate the great annual influx of waifs.
In 1995, the hospital responded to more 10,000 calls from throughout the North and, considering it has only three full-time staff, it achieved near miracles as most patients were rescued and returned to the wild.
Readers are asked to make a note of our telephone number for future reference, as we now have transport volunteers covering most towns who can bring in any casualties and orphans for care.
