ASK Stuart Hall for his verdict on Blackpool and he's sure to say: "It's A Knockout!"

The TV personality was in his favourite resort to help promote a new First Leisure marketing campaign aimed at Blackpool hoteliers and guesthouse owners.

Stuart shares the concerns of many of the hoteliers and tourist chiefs in the resort and said: "I think Blackpool has lost its tradition as a family holiday resort and hopefully new incentives like this will help."

First Leisure has teamed up with hotel and guesthouse owners to offer new deals on admission to Blackpool Tower with a £5 entry fee all summer, regardless of the weather.

First Leisure is also offering prizes and trips away for hoteliers based on the number of tickets they sell.

First Leisure's head of marketing Nick Smith said: "We need to work more closely with accommodation owners in the resort.

"They are our life blood. We are committed to working together and tackling the problem of the lack of long-stay holidaymakers."

Eileen Fullard, chairman of the Private Hotel Association, added the initiative would work both ways, also attracting visitors to the Tower.

She said: "I think this is a great idea. The Tower has needed a push for some time.

"Alot of people who come to Blackpool think the Tower is just about going to the top, they don't realise there is so much to do inside."
