STEFANIE Hayhurst and Adrian Crabtree are looking forward to a financially rewarding future, thanks to a training scheme run by ELTEC.

Former Gawthorpe High School pupil and keep-fit fanatic Stefanie is enjoying keeping the books in shape at Padiham-based Samuel Cookes Fuels and Lubricants.

And fellow Burnley resident Adrian Crabtree is also working for Samuel Cookes where his ambition is to become the company accountant.

The pair are on an XTEND "modern apprenticeship" whereby they receive off-the-job training as well as a wage.

ELTEC's training and education development director Andy Fawcett said: "Many young people like Stefanie and Adrian decide to go straight to work after leaving school.

"However, by taking advantage of the training opportunities available to them through XTEND, they can learn while they earn by studying at local colleges to obtain up to date qualifications and job skills."
