STARS from top soap opera Brookside were today helping the search for an obsessive fan missing from home.

David George Adams, 27, is believed to be in Liverpool and may have tried to find the famous set after he disappeared from his Blackburn home two-and-a-half weeks ago.

And today his favourite character Julia Brogan appealed for David to go home.

Actress Gladys Ambrose, who plays the loveable Scouse gossip, told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph: "I'll be keeping my eye open and I'll be telling the whole set to watch out for David today.

"A lot of people do hang around outside the set and I hope he makes himself known to me and I'll make sure he goes home.

"I hope for his family's sake that he returns safe and well. There's no place like home and that's where David should be."

David has a history of disappearing from home but always returns after a couple of days.

In the past has been found in the Liverpool area, where he enjoys riding on the ferry across the Mersey.

His mother, Joan, of Walnut Street, said: "He absolutely loves Liverpool and in particular the ferries and Brookside. "He was only going out there for the day but never returned home. I think it's possible he would try and find the Brookside set.

"He watches every episode and the repeats on Saturday and adores the Julia Brogan character.

"He's very depressed at the moment and he didn't take any of his medication with him. He's not a danger to the public but after this long away from home he's going to be in a right mess.

"We're all very worried about him and just want him home."

David was wearing black jeans, a white long-sleeved top and brown boots. he had just £20 with him.

Blackburn police inspector Harry Bretherton said anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact police.
