YOUNGSTERS who helped to brighten up Earlestown railway station with a splash of colour, will see the result of their efforts when their artwork is unveiled next week.
The project was organised by Groundwork St Helens under the banner of Merseytravel's Green Transport Month. Their aim, over the last 18 months, has been to make the station more attractive by incorporating new footpaths and fencing and landscaping the original area.
In addition, children from Wargrave Primary School have been working with local artists, Tracey Cartledge and Janet Sparrow to produce signposts and fencing panels and arch grilles to brighten up the station's five platforms.
John Mealor, Deputy Mayor of St Helens and a board member of Merseytravel will unveil the artwork at 10.30am on Monday, June 24.
Councillor Mealor commented: "This event highlights a unique partnership between Merseytravel, Railtrack, Regional Railways, Groundwork, Merseyside Police, St Helens Council and local people and children."
