BLACKBURN Rovers rock Colin Hendry predicts England can go all the way to Euro 96 glory - with Alan Shearer leading an unstoppable charge to the final.

The Scotland kingpin saw a quarter final place cruelly snatched away after Patrick Kluivert's late strike at Wembley squeezed the Dutch through on goal difference.

But now - after watching highlights of England's 4-1 sensation over Holland - Hendry believes England have a championship victory firmly within their grasp.

"I think England have got a great chance of winning the tournament after that win over Holland," predicted Hendry.

"They have built up a terrific momentum and they are going to be very hard to stop now .

"While I am still desperately disappointed for Scotland - I'm very happy for Alan Shearer.

"It is amazing to think that he had a groin operation just a few weeks ago. He has come back stronger than ever to score four goals and lead the tournament scoring.

"With Alan in that sort of form anything is possible. He has to be the best striker in Europe right now."

But Hendry predicts a supreme test awaits Terry Venables men against Spain tomorrow if England are going to claim a place in next Wednesday's semi-finals - and a potential Euro 96 shoot-out against Germany.

"Spain will be a very big match for England but everything seems to be clicking into place just at the right time for England," added Hendry.

"It was important for England to keep their games at Wembley because that has proved a really big plus for them. England are going to take a lot of stopping now."
