TOURISM will be on the agenda at a special meeting in Haslingden when ideas will be sought to promote the town.

Action for Haslingden Partnership has secured money from the Government to regenerate the town and a meeting to discuss tourism will be held at Haslingden Public Hall on October 17 at 7pm.

The views of local people will be sought and a tourism forum will be established made up of private and voluntary sector representatives.

Already, the partnership has plans for tourist information points at the Public Hall, Haslingden baths, sports centre, the library, the neighbourhood office and Winfields.

A new antique shop and tea room is also planned for St Stephen's Church, Grane.

A town trail leaflet will detail the events in the town and some of the older buildings and blue plaques will be dedicated to prominent figures and events.

Haslingden hike will be a circular walk of 10 to 12 miles for local groups, exhibitions will be organised in the library and traders will be encouraged to dress up their shops for Christmas.

Anyone who wants to attend the meeting can contact Nick Dunnachie on 01706 831258.
