IN my locality and, probably, yours, grassed areas provided by the taxpayer for the sport and leisure of young people and children are being spoiled by nuisance motorists and, sometimes, commercial vehicles.

These areas, which are kept tidy and regularly mowed by council workers, are intended to keep children away from traffic and as safe as possible.

Selfish drivers, rather than finding an appropriate place, are taking the easy option by half-parking and sometimes fully parking on the perimeter of these areas.

Young boys and, sometimes, girls, who like to emulate their favourite soccer stars by kicking a ball around, are in danger of crashing into these vehicles.

Come on, drivers, let the kids have a bit of peace and quiet away from your smelly and potentially dangerous toys. They are only young once.
