BUSINESSES in and around Lancaster and Morecambe will soon find out if they're the lucky winners of the 1996 "You're Welcome in Morecambe" competition.
On Friday November 8, the Warmth of Welcome awards will be presented at Morecambe's Broadway Hotel and the overall winner will be off on a cruise on the QE2.
The hotly contested competition has attracted nominations and entries from almost 30 businessmen and nearly 1,000 satisfied customers have written to the Warmth of Welcome Scheme with stories of excellent customer care.
Winners of five categories - including the Citizen sponsored Best Hotel award to be presented by editor Greg Morgan - will each receive a special trophy.
The overall winner will receive the engraved Welcome Cup and the coveted cruise on the QE2. Chris Morton, the project's co-ordinator, said: "The people of Lancaster and Morecambe have really got behind the businesses who have looked after them. We have been amazed at the volume of nominations and are looking forward to rewarding these unsung heroes who have gone to extremes in caring for their customers."
