PRINCE Charles is to meet council chiefs today (Thursday) to quiz them on plans to turn a Victorian Preston mill into a thriving fashion centre.

He will join the Preston delegation, including council leader David Borrow, at Saltaire in West Yorkshire.

Today's talks could be the turning point in persuading the Prince to give Preston's multi-million pound scheme for the Centenary Mill his Royal Seal of Approval.

If they win their bid for Government cash in December, council chiefs plan to create the £11.5 million fashion centre in the Victorian building, better known in Preston as Horrockses.

It is the flagship project in in the proposed £50 million regeneration of Deepdale.
