ST HELENS College is marking 100 years of educating local folk with a week jam-packed with centenary activities and events culminating in a huge firework and laser display at Saints' Knowsley Road ground.

The centenary celebrations will run from Monday, November 4 to Friday, November 8, and among the attractions are a Victorian schoolroom; a Chariots of Fire-style fun run around St Helens town centre; a display of steam engines by enthusiast Fred Dibnah; and Victorian meals on offer at the college's Waterloo Restaurant throughout the week.

Highlight of the week will be the Firework and Laser Display night held at Saints' ground at 6.30pm with tickets costing £2 for adults and £1 for juniors (up to 16 years). All the money raised from this and all the other events held during the week will be donated to Alder Hey Childrens Hospital.

For any information on the week's events or to purchase tickets, contact Jeanine Williams in Room 225, St Helens College, Brook Street, or phone St Helens 623302 or 0831 776936. Tickets are also available from the St Helens Star office.
