ALAN WHALLEY'S WORLD

MY protest about our public parks, recreation grounds and cemeteries being turned into dogs' toilets by couldn't-care-less pooch owners certainly touched a nerve.

Many readers contacted me, expressing full agreement with my sentiment that the culprits ought to be fined the maximum penalty and ordered to perform pooper-scoop duties at the main problem spots.

Among those who pointed out one particularly bone-idled practice was a lady who lives close to the dog dirt-blighted Queens Recreation ground behind Boundary Road baths.

She reported: "It has become common practice for some dog owners to roll up in cars, release their dogs on to the park to relieve themselves, and then retrieve their pets and drive off again.

"They have no thought whatsoever for others - especially young children who can suffer blindness if they come in contact with infected dog droppings."

I've also been informed of dogs being allowed to foul not only the footpaths at Hard Lane cemetery, but even the graves themselves.

IT'S high time these deplorable dog owners were rounded up and dealt with.
