FORGET the bone, studded collar and doggie chocs, what your pooch really wants for Christmas is a new outfit.

And it won't be Gucci, Armani and Yves Saint Laurent - there's a new designer label which is the ultimate in canine chic.

Petcentrics, in Accrington, is the clothing store for the more discerning doggie.

And what better way to launch the opening of the fashion emporium than to give BBC's Clothes Show crew a catwalk preview.

The outfits on show included samples of the Madonna range and the Lily Savage collection.

"Some of the clothes are outrageous," said owner Kevin Horkin. "And we expect a few celebrities to invest in outfits for their pets.

"The idea for the shop came after I tailor-made some clothes for Eartha Kitt's two poodles. Everyone knows how potty people are about their pets so what better way to treat your four-legged friend than buying them a beautiful outfit?"

Channel Four's The Big Breakfast has also contacted Kevin with the hope of filming a wacky pet make-over.

Petcentrics also stocks herbal remedies for animals, shampoos and conditioners, and luxury beds. "I think this will catch on in a big way," Kevin added. "Only time will tell."
