POLICE have launched a poster campaign in their bid to trap the murderer of Preston student Janet Murgatroyd.

Ten people caught on camera the night law student Janet was killed have still not come forward.

Police believe any of them could prove to be vital witnesses in the case and have issued 300 posters of the security camera images in a bid to track them down.

The pictures will be pasted up all around Preston town centre and detectives are hopeful they will be identified after the recent successful campaign to track down a man filmed on Strand Road that night.

Janet's body was found floating in the River Ribble at noon on Sunday, June 16. She had been brutally beaten and left to die in the early hours of that morning close to Penwortham Bridge.

The 20-year-old woman had spent the evening in pubs around Preston town centre and walked home alone. Before she reached her destination she met her killer. The time of the attack is estimated around 1.15 am.
