TWO top Russian industrialists completed a fact-finding visit to the UK with a tour of the facilities provided by St Helens-based Inchcape Testing Services Environmental Laboratories.

Dmitry Renne, chairman and chief executive of Geningconsult, an engineering consultancy in Moscow, and Alexander Elizarov, head of foreign affairs for Tomskneft, a division of the Eastern Oil Company, were in Britain at the invitation of ITS to see first-hand the analytical, inspection and chemical support services offered by the company.

The St Helens laboratory employees 55 specialist staff and is the ITS Environmental regional headquarters for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Commenting on the visit on behalf of the St Helens Chamber of Commerce, Training and Enterprise, chief executive, Peter Hulmes said, "There is an ever-growing interest from overseas companies in what St Helens has to offer and a visit such as this arranged by Inchcape Testing Services, with their major international connections, further enhances the area's reputation."
