PRESCOT School is celebrating for the third time this year following an excellent OFSTED inspection report.

Staff at the school, which has already benefited from new buildings and has experienced its best exam results, are delighted with the latest OFSTED findings.

The inspectors opened their report by stating that the school "has many significant strengths and serves its pupils, families and communities well. It is vigorously committed to raising standards. In this it has succeeded.

"The teaching staff are very hard-working and supportive in their efforts to help pupils progress and raise attainment."

Following the release of the report, headteacher Peter Barlow, said: "The governors, parents and staff are delighted. There is clear evidence throughout the report of value added and how we encourage achievement.

"This is a marvellous tribute to all who work here and a springboard to even better work in the years ahead."

FAMOUS 'old girl' Gill Burns was guest of honour at Prescot School's awards evening held last night (Wednesday, December 4).

Gill, captain of the England Womens RU team, presented awards to former students who did particularly well in their studies last year.
