HAT-TRICK hero Lee Berrisford led Tyldesley RU to a super 37-23 win against a spirited Broughton.

The visitors, playing a tight game and boasting possibly the largest front row seen at Well Street this season, began well and went clear with a try from close-range.

But Tyldesley were not to be denied. They clawed a way back with a Tim Brown touchdown - on his way to a personal haul of 22 points, including four conversions and three penalties.

Then Berrisford went in for the first of his terrific treble as Tyldesley took a commanding 15-5 interval lead.

Lock forwards Lee West and Craig Shotton dominated the lineout again and, with centres Stewart Manning and Mark Swanton in top form, the result was ever really in doubt.

On Sunday Tyldesley are at home to Eagle of Warrington in the first round of the Lancashire Trophy.

Tyldesley 2nds won 26-15 at Broughton with tries came from Craig Pulman, Dave Channell, Andy Broad and fine individual effort from Mark Burgess. Ian Worsfold kicked one goal with Graham Harrop landing another two.

The 3rds romped in against Broughton, scoring 10 tries for the fourth time this season. MOM was young winger Gary Corbett, who grabbed four tries, Steve Culshaw bagged a hat-trick, Jeff Talbot and John Featherston scoring one each - as did Peter Hully, for the fourth straight week.

The 4ths, despite being a man down, beat Bolton 19-0. Andy Robb was the pick of the forwards before an injury forced him out, while John Reynolds had a useful game in the backs.
