LOCAL charities and voluntary groups are invited to apply for the latest round of Lottery cash for good causes.
The new grants, launched this week, are under two themes: new opportunities and choices and voluntary sector development.
The first set will help fund projects which will extend learning and volunteering opportunities to people of all ages - from pre-school groups to adult education for senior citizens.
The second batch of grants will go to "umbrella" bodies, development agencies and resource centres supplying services to other voluntary and community organisations.
David Seiff, chairman of the National Lottery Charities Board, announced the new grants this week.
"By supporting projects which increase people's opportunities and help voluntary and community groups achieve more, we hope our grants will have a significant impact on disadvantaged communities," he said.
"We will especially welcome bids from groups which encourage people to volunteer to help others, particularly the young," he said.
Charities and groups who want to find out more should call 0345 919191. Applications must be made by April 4.
