LYNN Lowey, the woman accused of murdering St Helens businessman Ian Whalley, has died of cancer. She was cremated on Tuesday, December 2.

Lowey (40) was accused of poisoning 56-year-old Mr Whalley in January of this year by sprinkling crushed tranquilisers and morphine onto one of his meals. But she never stood trial because a judge at Liverpool Crown Court ordered that as a result of her illness the murder charge should lie on file.

Lowey, also accused of bigamously marrying her alleged victim with whom she lived in a luxury caravan at Neills Road, Bold, denied both charges.
