A FORMER principal boy from pantomime has been appointed the new general manager of Blackpool's Grand Theatre.

Stephanie, 31, will take up her position officially on February 24 and is currently director of the Merlin Theatre in Frome, Somerset.

Among her prestigious roles have been programme co-ordinator at London's Sadler's Wells Theatre and in programming at the acclaimed Hackney Empire.

She has worked in a box office, as stage manager and as the principal boy in pantomime.

David Coupe, chairman of Blackpool Grand Theatre (Arts and Entertainment) Ltd, said: "We are delighted that Stephanie has agreed to join us.

"We are confident that she has exactly the right combination of skills and experience to take the Grand Theatre into the 21st Century."

Stephanie said: "I am delighted to be taking on the challenge of the Grand Theatre and look forward to building on its recent success.

"It is without doubt one of the most beautiful theatres in the country and I am eager to get started."
