MRS Margaret Henley has been appointed chairman of St Helens & Knowsley Community Health Trust.

A JP and currently senior deputy chairman of St Helens Magistrates, Mrs Henley succeeds Mrs Diane Charnock.

"I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with and offer my support to the staff of the community trust in their efforts to continue to develop the best possible health services for local people," said Mrs Henley who has an honours degree in sociology and has worked in the National Health Service and in vocational training.

She has also been a marriage guidance counsellor and a member of St Helens Community Health Council.

All candidates considered for appointment as chairmen or non-executive directors of trusts and health authorities are required to declare any significant political activity undertaken in the last five years. Mrs Henley, who lives in St Helens and is married to a GP, has declared no such activity.
