Bromsgrove 2 Morecambe 3 LOWLY Hayes, currently propping up the GM Vauxhall Conference table, must be dreading their visit to Christie Park on Saturday. The Shrimps have lost just once in 14 league games, go second in the Conference if they win their games in hand, and, in Justin Jackson, have one of the deadliest strikers around as he proved at Bromsgrove on Saturday. It's little wonder that bosses at the Christie Park club are starting to make plans for a Football League stadium (see elsewhere in CitizenSport) as the team continues to run with the best in the world of non-league football.

The 3-2 scoreline in the Midlands on Saturday certainly flattered the home side who came back from 3-0 down at the end of the game against a Morecambe side containing Mark Shirley, making his debut after last week's transfer from Lancaster City.

The Shrimps were ahead with just 12 minutes on the clock and it was in-form Jackson who created it, ghosting past his marker and laying the ball on a plate for Norman to score.

Jim Harvey's stylish side controlled the match with Jackson, Norman, Shirley and Ian Monk causing all sorts of problems for the home side's back-line. They had to wait until the 45th minute for the second which, although a lot more direct, also had a touch of class about it.

This time Ben Lavelle sent a long clearance upfield and Jackson was on to it in a flash, hooking the ball over the advancing 'keeper and into the net in brilliant fashion.

The third came with the second half barely a minute old with the dominant Shrimps picking up the pace again. Lavelle crossed, Norman flicked it on and Monk was on hand in the box to notch the third.

The second period was closer than the first but Morecambe were never really in danger of losing their grip on the game even after Bromsgrove pulled one back thanks to a superb long-range shot from Gardner with 15 minutes left. Substitute Mark Ceraolo, on for Monk in the 76th minute, almost increased the lead but it was left to the home side to finish off the scoring - Amos getting up to head a cross past Steve McIlhargey.

TEAM: McIlhargey, Knowles, Lavelle, Rushton, Hughes, Burns, Monk (Ceraolo), McKearney, Jackson (McCluskie), Norman, Shirley. SUB: Miller.
