WISHING upon a star has made a dream come true for one little Cleveleys girl this Christmas.

Emily has Baton's disease, but thanks to When You Wish Upon A Star, the dream-making charity for sick children, she will be flown to Lapland for a super holiday.

The charity grants wishes for tragically ill children and is holding a gala benefit night at the De Vere Hotel, Blackpool, this Saturday (December 7) to raise lots of cash for this worthy cause.

The night will include a special Christmas Blind Date and a guest appearance by Coronation Street's Helen Worth, who plays Gail Platt.

DJ for the evening will be Rock FM's Ian Calvert.

David Bailey, who is the charity's contact in the Blackpool area, says: "Anyone can attend and they can stay for five minutes or they can stay all night. There will be a donation bucket on the door."

David, a fitness instructor at the De Vere, hopes lots of money will be raised on the night from raffles and an auction.

He said: "There will be loads of prizes. We've had many donations from the De Vere and local businesses."

"We've also had donations from Manchester United FC and Lily Savage. Altogether, there will be about 40 prizes."

Included among the prizes is a trip for two to Paris, a trip for two to Lapland and six other holiday weekends.

The evening kicks off at 7pm at the hotel's leisure centre bar and everyone is welcome.
