A NEW combined jobs centre and unemployment benefit office is to open in Nelson on Monday.
The new office on the corner of Railway Street and Netherfield Road is designed to offer jobseekers and employers a complete service under one roof, including vacancies, advice and guidance on finding work and training opportunities, and payment of the Jobseeker's Allowance.
The town's Manchester Road JobCentre and the benefit office in Seldon Street closed yesterday.
The new office will have a new JobCentre manager. Zoe Smith, who was previously involved with the integration of the JobCentre and benefits office in Blackburn, is to take on the top spot.
The office will be open 9am-4.45pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday, 10am-4.45pm on Wednesdays, and 10am-4pm on Fridays. Its telephone number is 01282 663300.
