TONY Parkes takes his fast-improving Blackburn Rovers team to Leicester tomorrow declaring: "We must help ourselves."

Rovers' caretaker-boss, still in command six weeks on from Ray Harford's departure, was reflecting on a week that has seen the club's position improve considerably through the failings of others.

But he warned that it was still down to them to pile up the points.

"You want other teams to do you a favour, as Juventus did for Manchester United on Wednesday," explained Parkes, who has seen Henning Berg shake off several knocks to be fit for tomorrow's clash.

"But you still have to get points on the board.

"There have been some good results for us this week and we are not unhappy about that.

"But we must help ourselves and go to Leicester to try to win the game. "It won't matter what anyone else does if we don't pick up points ourselves."

Parkes had some concern over Berg earlier in the week.

For the Norwegian ace was really in the wars at the weekend.

"He was a doubt for last Saturday's match because of sickness and he also had a groin strain," said the caretaker-boss.

"Henning then picked up a knock on the thigh and took a blow in the face.

"If he had said he wasn't fit, we wouldn't have known which problem was keeping him out!

"But he seems to be okay now and that's good news for us."

Berg has played in the centre of defence since Parkes took over, the return of Graeme Le Saux enabling the manager to switch Jeff Kenna to his preferred right back position and free the Norwegian.

Centre back is where Berg mainly played before joing Rovers - and still does for his country.

Both George Donis and Lars Bohinen were used as substitutes against Southampton last weekend and are knocking on the door.

But Parkes will find it difficult to change the starting line-up which has served him so well. The 4-3-3 formation used has also caused problems for other teams and they have all had to adapt their own systems to combat it, either before or during games.

Stuart Ripley (knee injury) is a big doubt for tomorrow's squad with Damien Duff on stand-by to replace him.

Rovers were able to train at Brockhall this morning, thanks to their £7,000 frost cover.

But even that is only effective until about minus three.

The squad is: Flowers, Kenna, Berg, Hendry, Le Saux, Sherwood, McKinlay, Flitcroft, Gallacher, Sutton, Wilcox, Bohinen, Donis, Croft, Broomes, Duff, Ripley, Given.

Leicester have one or two players to check but could well name an unchanged team with Steve Walsh (groin injury) unlikely to be fit.

They are expected to choose from: Keller, Prior, Watts, Marshall, Grayson, Parker, Lennon, Taylor, Izzet, Claridge, Heskey, Hill, Lawrence, Campbell, Kaamark, Poole.

Tickets for tomorrow's game, while stocks last, can be bought by travelling Rovers fans at Filbert St, price £12 only.

Rovers A team are away to Everton tomorrow, the B team game has been postponed.
