A FRIGHTENED mum fears her children are being put at risk by prostitutes touting for business outside her house until 4am.

The mum-of-two wants action to stop the goings-on outside her home off Oakenhurst Road, Wensley Fold, Blackburn.

The final straw was when she found a used condom outside her front door.

The woman, who does not want to be named because she fears for her safety, said: "They are outside as early as 6.30pm when the children are still out.

"There have been up to three prostitutes at one time.

"One of my children asked me 'Why is that girl always standing outside our house?'

"I found the condom outside my house and I was absolutely disgusted. I am absolutely sick to death of it.

"I don't like going out of my house because I fear for the safety and health of my children." Her other complaints are that kerb-crawlers are driving around in the early hours of the morning, prostitutes are leaning against her wall and a pimp's car has even pulled into her drive.

She claimed the problem had got worse in recent months but she had first complained to the police over two years ago.

Councillor Don Rishton said he regularly received complaints from residents in other parts of his Wensley Fold ward.

He said: "There have been a number about nearby streets and I have made numerous approaches to the police,"

He said he had received complaints about the usual associated problems, such as increased noise and traffic, as well more severe problems, such as pimps threatening people.

A Blackburn police spokesman said: "We have received a complaint from a resident. We carried out observations and a prostitute has been warned."

He said only one prostitute had been seen.
