PARENTS of yob-kids are in for a nasty experience!

Police are now catching on video mischief-making youngsters and inviting mums and dads to later view their antics on a police station TV (writes Malcolm Ryding).

The move by Leigh police follows a spate of incidents in Hindley, Lowton and Leigh where anti-social behaviour has upset residents - especially old people.

"And it's having a great effect," said Chief Insp Steve Westcott.

Police used the video camera to capture some loutish behaviour near Leigh town centre. And they have just finished an operation in the Lowton St Luke's area.

"Gangs of youths have been smashing bottles and discarding beer cans. They have been identified and their parents will be contacted," said Ch Insp Westcott.

He added: "We have received good support from parents in other areas who have viewed the antics of their children on video.

"We would ask all parents to take an interest in where their children are and what they are up to, or they could be in for a nasty shock when they receive our 'cinema tickets' to watch their children's starring role!"
