A 36-year-old woman was grabbed, indecently assaulted and then wrestled to the floor in Colne on Saturday.
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Townley Street and Windsor Street at 1.45am to come forward if they saw a man, described as white, about 30 years old, 6ft tall with short brown hair and wearing a light dress shirt.
He approached the woman, who was on her own, from behind and grabbed her, indecently assaulted her and wrestled her to the ground, pinning her down.
The woman fought her attacker and he left the scene heading towards Windsor Street.
The woman was shaken by the assault but received no physical injuries.
