THE WORLD Cup dream is set to become a reality for a Blackburn schoolgirl this summer.

Soccer fan Nicola Hayes, 14, has won the top prize in a competition and will have the eyes of the world on her when she leads two teams out for a vital match during the tournament.

Nicola, 14, from Pleckgate, has not been told which team she will fly the flag for, but she is crossing her fingers it will be her favourites England.

She is being flown to Paris the day before England take on Colombia in nearby Lens.

The St Wilfrid's High pupil and her mother, Karen, have also won an all-expenses paid trip to Paris Disneyland as part of the prize.

Nicola, who sells programmes at Ewood Park on match days, said: "I just entered this competition organised by Tesco and Coca Cola. I had to fill in a caption and answer a series of questions, I posted the entry and forgot all about it.

"When they rang up to say I had won, I was not in and my mum took the call. I couldn't believe it when she rang to tell me.""I have always been a big football fan and this is a brilliant prize to win."

Teachers at St Wilfrid's have also been celebrating Nicola's win because they have landed £1,000-worth of computer vouchers, thanks to the youngster.
