AFTER the increase in council tax which, we are told, was to maintain services - some of which were being reviewed in an effort to cut costs - can I assume Blackburn Council has won the lottery?
They have suddenly found the money for a new mayoral car.
The old Jaguar 3.2 automatic saloon, only seven years old, and the Ford Granada are no longer suitable for the first citizen of a mediocre East Lancs town. Something better is evidently required.
Perhaps what is really needed is a bit more walking by the Mayor then he will see for himself the filth of our streets at close hand, and spend our money on a new dust cart.
