CHRIS WADDLE insists there are still contracts up for grabs at Turf Moor.

He said that proposals put to the board for new deals for Paul Weller, Gerry Harrison, Damian Matthew and Mark Winstanley were only a starting point.

And the Burnley-player boss has not told the likes of Jamie Hoyland and Chris Vinnicombe that they are surplus to requirements.

Out-of-contract players Nigel Gleghorn, Ian Helliwell and Vince Overson will be moving on but he will review the situation regarding others when Burnley's fate is known after next Saturday's relegation cruncher with Plymouth.

"Let's get this week out of the way and see what happens," said Waddle, who will be looking to clarify his own position when the club's new owners are in place.

Waddle, who spoke to Hoyland about the situation over the weekend, added: "Jamie asked to be put on the list earlier this season when he wasn't getting a game.

"He has remained on the list and gone out on loan but he has come back and although he has been a substitute he has done very well for us. "He is an experienced person to have around the players and he is popular with the players. I have got to look at that at the end of the season and for all the players who have come in with demands I can't see them getting a yes or a no until the season's finished."

A lot depends on the takeover situation and that has reached a crucial stage with time running out for Peter Shackleton to provide proof of the depth of his funding.

The bank are still checking assets lodged with them worth billions of pounds - the collective wealth of Shackleton's backers. And the transfer of a £1 million up-front 'loan' is still in the balance.
