CAN I use your letters page to thank the Citizen and pensioners' campaigner Richard Graves for highlighting myself and my wife's plight (your front page story last week.)
Our house was devastated by workers hired by the council. Ourselves and Mr Graves have been trying to get this sorted out for months and Mr Graves helped us secure a settlement with the authority.
But I was amazed at the council's response after the story appeared in the paper. Mr Hawkhard, from the council, and the internal auditor showed up on the day the Citizen came out and within a couple of hours nearly all our repairs were done.
Now I just hope the council don't waste our money on inadequate and troublesome 'modernisation' operations like they inflicted on us again.
