IN response to Mrs Audrey Jones of the Chamber of Trade (Citizen letters, July 23) regarding compulsory competitive tendering... can I say that this was legacy left from the previous government. We were allowed to tender up to a maximum of 5 years but most tenders were given for three years.
It wasn't a very satisfactory arrangement has Mrs Jones has indicated. It did not really encourage long term investment.
The Government now is advertising best value as an alternative, abolishing the old CCT system and allowing people to tender for longer leases, providing the contracts are linked to performance and results.
We would welcome all interested parties in the development of the Bubbles site and hope for a satisfactory outcome to all concerned.
