I WOULD like to clarify my position on the Storey Institute garden. I agree with Elizabeth Burns in so far as I am in favour of creating public access to green spaces in the city centre. Personally the art in the Storey garden doesn't do much for me (except the shed which I quite like _ even if you can't go inside it!) but maybe that is a matter of opinion.
My original concern was for the state of the trees and the lack of horticultural knowledge which their planting and subsequent non-survival demonstrated. Having said that, I wish the project success, particularly as I am an enthusiast of fruit trees and old varieties in particular. For what it's worth, my suggestions for improving the gardens are:
replace the dead trees in October or November, but ask some advice from a horticultural expert first
provide some benches so that people can enjoy the garden at leisure
open up the entrance on Meeting House Lane to improve public access to the garden.
