Thatto Heath 23 Haydock 16

THATTO Heath staged a late comeback to earn their place in the Alex Murphy Cup Final.

Haydock had taken a deserved 16-6 lead before Heath roared back in the last 18 minutes.

Scrum-half Paul Ireland opened the Yickers' account with a fifth minute penalty and followed it minutes later with a similar effort.

However, Heaths truck back when Darren Harris weaved his way through a static Haydock defence to touch down under the posts, allowing Wayne Jackman a simple conversion.

Four minutes later Harris burst clear down the left flank, but the Haydock defence scrambled back to cover.

Haydock hit back strongly and quick handling and support play saw Paul Ireland fire out a long pass to send Neil Wade over. Ireland converted to put Haydock 10-6 ahead at the break.

The second half was barely four minutes old when Haydock struck again with a Darren Anders try converted by Ireland.

But Heath dug deep and hooker Carl McCabe forced his way over. Eight minutes later an excellent opportunist try by substitute Chris Rylatt, converted by Jackman brought the scores level.

Thatto Heath's fourth and final try was the result of some fine handling skills across the Haydock posts before Harris sent winger Peter Derbyshire over in the corner. Jackman converted.

Darren Harris put the game out of Haydock's reach with a drop goal in the dying minutes. Bold Miners 6 Eccles 34

Bold made the National Conference League outfit fight all the way for this victory.

It was 30 minutes before Eccles opened their account, when Morley forced his way over.

But before the break Switzer added two more tries and Pickup one conversion to give Eccles a 14-point cushion.

But with a minute to go Bold loose-forward Kenyon scored an excellent try in the corner and he also added the touchline conversion.

Eccles stepped up a gear after the break and they stretched their lead with a try by hooker Fearnley and a Pickup conversion.

And Bold fell further behind when loose-forward Fallon forced his way over and BARLA tourist Pickup added a fine angled conversion.

Eccles added further nails in the Bold coffin with tries by Fallon and substitute Vorden.
