IT'S being billed as the Clash of the Titans . . . and one thing's for sure -St Helens Town Hall won't have seen anything like it before.

For one of the most physically punishing sports in the world is staging a world title bout at the old building on Sunday, August 16.

Liverpool's Chris Wright is taking on Glasgow's Duncan James for Thai Boxing's World Cruiserweight title. And both men have the pedigree to provide a battle royal.

Wright is the World WKO Cruiserweight and also the current ISKA Heavyweight Champion. While James is the World ISKA Cruiserweight Thai champion and WKO Cruiserweight Champion.

For the uninitiated Thai Boxing is something of a cross between traditional boxing and karate.

And these two will be locked in combat for five three-minute rounds.

But that's not all. For there are a number of supporting bouts involving local fighters such as Haydock's Paul Wright and Lee Connor of St Helens.

And some of the big names in Thai Boxing will be among the special guests.

They include:

Steve Fossum (IFK President), American Duke Roufus, who was the Superheavyweight champion, five-times World Champion Ronnie Green and four-times World Champion Trevor Ambrose.

A further treat for martial arts fans is a Ju Jitsu demonstration by Kenny Rotherham.
