RAMSBOTTOM professional Ian Harvey was in devastating form with the ball as his side comfortably won the Lancashire League's battle of the draw specialists.

He finished with figures of 7 for 20 as Colne capitulated to 83 all out.

The unfortunate hosts lost six wickets for eight runs as Harvey ripped out the top order to leave them in big trouble at 34 for 6.

Only Gary Hunt and David Swarbrick saved Colne from further embarrassment putting on 33 for the seventh wicket before both fell to Nick Riley. Opener Neil Richardson then put on 41 not out as the Rams reached their target for the loss of only three wickets for only their third victory of the campaign.

Elton professional Greg Dimery was again at the top of his form as the Leigh Lane club extended their lead at the top of the Bolton Association.

In a crucial game against second-placed Adlington Dimery shone with both bat and ball and hit the winning runs with only three deliveries remaining. The game certainly lived up to it's match-of-the-day status as Adlington batted first and put on 126 for 9 with Elton skipper Steve Lomas helping himself to four victims behind the stumps. Dimery finished with figures of 3 for 44 from his 24 overs and Ian Gade chipped in with 4 for 33.

In reply Elton attained what was required for the loss of eight wickets with Dimery earning his corn to finish the day a fine 84 not out.

Walshaw had to settle for a draw from their trip to Atherton.

The home side set a total of 205 for 5 mainly thanks to an unbeaten 79 from Andy Hall.

Rob Faulkner played a captain's innings in the chase, top scoring with 72 while professional Simon Bamford added a useful 63 as the innings closed with the Sycamore Road side on 180 for 7.

In the Bolton League it was a disappointing weekend for Greenmount who could only manage a losing draw at Egerton.

Mark Stewart took the bowling plaudits with 4 for 74 as the Bolton side amassed 190 for 7 from their 48 overs with Anthony Clegg (78) and Stuart Hornby's 57 the mainstay of the innings.

In reply it was the youngsters who did the business for the village side with Andy Bowker finishing unbeaten on 42 and Rob Edmundson chipping in with 39 as Greenmount closed on 156 for 7.
