FRED and Emily Elliston, the disabled couple in their 70s whose home was devastated by contractors hired by the council, were overjoyed this week.
No sooner had the first deliveries of The Citizen been made than high profile councillors and officers had called round the couple's home.
And, hey presto, just about all the outstanding work that needed to be done was finished that very same day.
Fred said he and his wife were so impressed with the development that he came into the Citizen to tell us about it.
"I was amazed when they all came round," he said. "I just hope they check out who they're giving our money to next time they have one of these modernisation programmes."
