PILKINGTON workers attending a meeting organised by the GMB, MSF and AEEU Trade Unions voted unanimously to seek 'some form of industrial action'.

The action is in response to the restructuring proposals from Pilkington and unions say they will be balloting members on a series of one-day stoppages.

After the meeting held at St Helens Town Hall on Friday, GMB Regional Organiser, Charlie Leonard, who is the spokesman for the Joint Trade Unions, said: "The membership are clearly saying that enough is enough. They have co-operated in the past but it would appear now that the company are mistaking that co-operation for total submission.

"The Joint Trade Unions will not accept compulsory redundancies and will not accept the company selection criteria and we would ask again for the company to withdraw their threat.

"We are willing to sit down and discuss this issue with them at any time."
