LOSTY the lovebird is beginning to find out that the path of true love never runs smoothly.

And now Bernadette McKenna and her three children want the help of Lancashire Evening Telegraph readers to get him back on the road to romance.

The green and red feathered bird with a blue tail has been living in Bernadette's washing basket since last Thursday when she found him all in a flap outside her house in Dean Road, Haslingden.

Her children Jodie, Hayley and Ryan named the lovelorn creature Losty and have been trying to console his lonesome heart - but to no avail.

After much searching and ringing round friends and neighbours, the McKenna family still haven't been able to re-unite Losty with his or her other half.

Bernadette said: "I don't know anybody round here who has a lovebird, but we do want to find Losty's owner as I know lovebirds usually come in pairs.

"If we can't find the owner one of our neighbours who keeps birds will offer it a home, but it would be nice if there was a happy ending."
