COUNCIL chief Graham Jagger got a little help from his friends in his push to meet a charity fund-raising total.

In fact, a £1,000 cheque donated by Nelson-based firm Bridge Computer Systems helped Graham halfway to his £2,000 target, to allow him to take part in the Three Seas Cycle Challenge in Israel in October.

The money will go to national charity Addaction which helps people tackle drug and alcohol addiction.

David Price, managing director of Bridge, explained: "We know Graham through the business and we knew he did a lot of charitable work. When he approached us for support we were glad to help him and such a worthy cause."

Graham, of Colne Road, Kelbrook, chief engineer with Ribble Valley Council, will tackle the 350km route between the Mediterranean, the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee.

The cheque was presented to Graham during a ceremony at the firm's premises on Lomeshaye Industrial Estate.
