LOCAL swimmers swept up the national rankings after splashing efforts at the National Age Group Championships.

Heather Frederiksen (Atherton SC) was seventh in the 13-Year 800 freestyle, knocking FIVE seconds off her PB.

Christopher Pugh (Swinton SC) was eighth in the 14-Year 1500 freestyle and was first reserve in the 200 butterfly. He also had fine swims in the 400 freestyle and hit a PB in the 400 IM.

Daniel Farrer (Worsley SC) had a fine swim in the 13-Year 100 breaststroke.

Six Tyldesley SC youngsters qualified for the event with 13-year-old Khalid Jhugroo hitting a PB for bronze in the 1500 freestyle, adding PB shows in the 400 IM and freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Matthew Hampson was seventh in the 15-Year 200 butterfly (PB), also hitting a new best in the 400 IM.

Leanne Watmough was first reserve finalist in the 200 breaststroke while Kate Ward was reserve finalist in the 100 freestyle and set a PB in the 100 butterfly - both at 14-Year.

Good swims from Stuart Carlisle, 14, and 12-year-old Maria Hampson, taking part in her first National Age Groups.

FOUR youngsters from Atherton SC competed in the National Age Group Champions at Leeds.

Hannah Foster, 14, hit a PB in the 100 butterfly and was sixth in the final of the 200 butterfly.

Daniel Kings, also 14, featured in both the 100 and 200 butterfly events.

Heather Frederickson, 13, smashed her 800 freestyle best by five seconds for seventh place.

And Matthew Jackson, 16, competed in the 200 butterfly.
