CONCERNED trade unionists have called a conference to voice worries about the vulnerability of the unemployed.
On Saturday (Sept 19) Leigh, Atherton and Tyldesley Trades Union Council will stage the conference between 1pm-4pm at Leigh Miners Institute in Twist Lane.
A speaker from the TUC Education Department will address the meeting about concerns that the unemployed may become vulnerable to unscrupulous employees through new welfare to work schemes.
TUC treasurer Trevor Harrison explained:"We particularly want young people to come along.
"I don't believe a lot of them realise they can join a trade union when they are on New Deal schemes."
